This week on the webcast of a Eucharist from St. John's, Cambridge, there is a hymn that I didn't know. I do know and love the tune UNSER HERRSCHER as it is called in the Hymnal 1982, or NEANDER as it is sometimes called, with it's valiant upward rise to the interval of a tenth above where it starts.
But the words I know for this tune are "He is risen, he is risen" by Mrs. C. F. Alexander.
I did not know the hymn "Come, ye faithful, raise the anthem" by Job Hupton and John Mason Neale (not to be confused with "Come, ye faithful, raise the strain" a J. M. Neale translation of a John of Damascus hymn, or the Christmas hymn "O come, all ye faithful" by John F. Wade).
It's nice to have another set of words to sing to this splendid tune outside of Eastertide.
